Web 2.0 and Y-o-u (part 1)
There is a lot of the so-called Web 2.0 in the world these days and more sites using this moniker seem to pop up daily, which is great, if you’re into that type of thing. At the same time some of us do not know what Web 2.0 is and whatever it is, we’re pretty sure that we’re not all that interested anyway.
However, since you’ve gotten this far please bear with me for another minute or so and I think you may begin to re-evaluate your position.
For those who aren’t completely familiar with what Web 2.0 is I’ll give a brief definition. Web 2.0 can be defined as any internet based site, group, etc. that allows for communication and collaboration. I tend to classify peer to peer networking sites as part of this genre as well. Specifically social sites like Facebook, MySpace, Orkut to name but a few.
I also put the business networking sites like LinkedIn, Plaxo, etc. into this category as well as micro-blogging sites i.e. restricted to messages of 140 characters or less. Twitter and Yammer are 2 of the more popular ones.
Now you’re probably asking why is it that I have brought all this to your attention, what do these websites have to do with Cool Hand Nuke and more importantly, Why is this relevant to You?
Great questions all.
I bring this to your attention now because we believe it is important for you to have the best tools available at your disposal and because these sites will not be going away anytime soon.
Simply stated any Web 2.0 site is a tool. They should be used as such. Connect, communicate and collaborate with peers and industry thought leaders. That’s what “Web 2.0″ is about, this is why we’re discussing it here and why Cool Hand Nuke has begun to establish a presence on some of these websites.
We’ve expanded to these areas in order to help facilitate the communication and connections between nuclear professionals. We hope that you will take advantage of these websites and allow us to help in your personal and professional development.
Take a few minutes to explore and investigate them and our pages on them. Chances are if you are not already on them, you will almost certainly have friends and colleagues that are.
Check it out. All the Cool kids are doing it.
